Textile Recycling Network

Textile Recycling Network (TRN) was established in 2024 to address the growing environmental impact of textile waste and to create practical, community-driven solutions for recovering and reusing unwanted clothing and fabrics. Originating from a shared concern among environmental organisations, local councils, charities, and industry partners, the network was formed to divert textiles from landfill and promote a circular approach to fashion and resource use within NZ, TRN do not send textile waste to developing countries to be re-processed.

The goal is not only to reduce landfill waste, but also to conserve water, energy, and raw materials while creating social, environmental, and economic benefits. TRN facilitates the production of three main NZ made products from 100% Textile waste

Textile.nz, polyester insulation.

Textile.nz, EcoRest, a futon style mattress

SaveBOARD, a multi-use building panel.

Critical Cleanstone, plastic construction panels.

The purpose of the Textile Recycling Network is to connect communities, businesses, collectors, recyclers, and educators to improve textile recovery systems within Aotearoa. We encourage responsible consumption, and support opportunities for repair, reuse, repurposing, and recycling. TRN aims to reduce waste, and build a more sustainable and socially responsible textile economy in Aotearoa.
